I stumbled upon this picture and realized it was fitting to use in this article. A New Year is upon us. When we are young, it seems we have all the time in the world. Life is full of possibilities.
It has been many years since Leland snapped this picture of me with our first two children. When I look at it, I realize there were many wasted hours and opportunities I did not take advantage of. It seemed there would always be time to do it tomorrow. But too often tomorrow is filled with other activities and worries, and ‘Time’ passes by.
Eventually, you get to a point where you look in the mirror and realize those toddlers’ have entered kindergarten. Later, came participation in little league baseball or soccer games. There were dance and piano lessons, as well as camps. Soon they left childhood and became adolescents. Before you knew it, they were young adults and worrying about their first job.
Now, I see myself in the mirror. My natural blonde hair been turning into lighter blond and becoming thinner. I have become a grandmother. It is usually at this stage of life that you realize there were many things you put aside, until “tomorrow”. Yes, things you never did, or said, or participated in, and you begin to reflect upon the possibilities that you set aside.
You see, we only have control of what is happening NOW. The time to heal a broken friendship, or words that are spoken in anger, is Now. Having children has a time period too. Taking a business risk has a right time. Going back to college may be the right time for you Now. Do not put off so many things until tomorrow.
It is a new year. Do not procrastinate. Make sure you take advantage of all those moments. Until next time, Colleen
Key Words – New Year, time, opportunities, tomorrow, possibilities, procrastinate
